A town saddened by the death of one of its most beloved and gracious women paid its final tribute Friday to Mrs. LeVisa Wheeler, 78, who died at her home on Third Street at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, July 27, following an illness of two years. The widow of Henry J. Wheeler, who preceded her in death in July 1919, she had many friends throughout Eastern Kentucky and her kind manner and warm friendliness had especially endeared her to the people of this town where most of her life was spent. Born in Elliott County December 23, 1871, the daughter of the late Judge Peter M. and Nancy Hunter Fannin, she received her teacher's certificate here in Paintsville under Professor John B. Wheatley and was a teacher in the County Schools for a number of years. An active member of the First Methodist Church for forty-five years, she lived a life of devoted Christian service and worked tirelessly and unselfishly in promoting the interests of the church and its development. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Maccabees. She is survived by four children: two sons, Edgar Kazee and Herman F. Wheeler both of this city; two daughters, Mrs. William C. Martin of this city and Mrs. Howard V. Tygrett of Dallas, Texas. A sister, Mrs. Milton DuVall, Sandy Hook, also survives and nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m., by the pastor, Rev. Clarence W. Krebs. Pallbearers were Harry LaViers, W. A. Toney, Roger Cooper, W. Howes Meade, Carl Fraim, and Escom Chandler. Burial was in the Wells-Buckingham Cemetery
