Surviving her six siblings, her father was Martin J Bogdanovich, a Croatian immigrant, and founder and Chief Executive of Star Kist Foods. She was a graduate of Mills College, where she studied language and music, and was fluent in four languages. She was a founder of the Los Angeles Music Center and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and was active in several philanthropic arts and educational fields.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas F. Trutanic, who died aboard a Star Kist vessel in New Zealand.
She is survived by her son, Richard Trutanic of California; daughter, Michele Trutanic Kearney; two grandchildren, Nicholas Trutanic & Michael Kearney; several nieces and nephews.
