Mary Bogdanovich passed away Sunday, June 12, 1994 in Rancho Mirage, Daughter of Martin J. and Antoinette Bogdanovich, founder of Star Kist Foods. She was born in San Pedro, California. She was survived by her husband, Brad Dexter; sons, Ronald J. Laraneta (Victoria) and Joseph J. Lareneta (Malinda); five grandchildren, Camille and Lisaanne Larenta; Daphne David, Andrea and Joe Larenta; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew Byde. Also surviving were a brother, Joseph J. Bogdanovich, Vice Chairman of H. J. Heinz Co,; sisters, Geraldine Bogdanovich, Kathryn V. Loker, Nina B. Trutanic, and Dorothy B. Brewer; ten nieces and nephews.
She was a founding member of the Music Center in Los Angeles, a member of Les Aime, the founder of the Yugoslav Musical Radio Hour. She was recognized by the Los Angeles Park and Recreation Committee for establishing a park in San Pedro named for her father, Martin J. Bogdanovich. She was a confidant of Marshall Tito and his wife. She had such a love and fervor for the people of Yugoslavia that she was decorated by the Yugoslav government with the highest decoration ever bestowed upon an American citizen, as her father before her was decorated by King Alexander of Yugoslavia for promoting good relationship between the United States of America and Yugoslavia.
