Mrs. Verna E. Slichenmyer, 73, wife of Charles O. Slichenmyer, and life-long resident of Ebenezer and Elbow neighborhoods, passed away this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient the past four days. She was one of the grandest persons of this community and was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. She was born on January 1, 1889, the daughter of Charles and Christina Fleming.

Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Egleston of Olney, Mrs. Mary Ellen Semple of Bogota, two sons, Stanley and Joseph, both of Olney; two brothers, D.. Elmer Fleming of Olney and Joseph Fleming of Newark, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Tharp of Olney and Mrs. Mary Merritt of Charleston, IL; also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandsons. A brother, Howard Fleming, formerly of Dayton Ohio, preceded her in death in 1961.

Funeral services for Mrs. Slichenmyer will be Saturday afternoon at the Chapel of Schaub Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Lyell officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
