Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Minister Larry Weber officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites performed by Olney veterans organizations.
Mr. Slichenmyer was born March 7, 1921, in Richland County, the son of Charles and Verna (Fleming) Slichenmyer. He married Wilma Hudson on September 7, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 30, 1942, to October 7, 1945. He served overseas for 43 months. He retired several years ago from AMF/Roadmaster, where he was a foreman. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Lodge in Olney. He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church.
Mr. Slichenmyer is survived by his wife, Wilma Slichenmyer, of Olney; son and daughter-in-law, William and Patti Slichenmyer, of Sumner; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Bandy, of Chatham; granddaughters, Christine Shaffer, of Virginia, and Katherine Shaffer, of Beardstown; great-granddaughter, Kristan Shaffer; sister, Mary Ellen Semple, of West Liberty; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Verna Slichenmyer, brother, Joe Slichenmyer, and sister, Wanda Egleston.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
