Mrs. Hawkins, 94, died Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 in Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 2 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC. Her father was one of the founders.
Born in Shelby, she was the daughter of the late William Mundy and Mattie Flack Lineberger. She received her education at the Southern Workshop in Asheville, NC and Greensboro College. She was married twice, first to Hubert Wilson who died 1938, then to Thomas W. Hawkins Jr. of Charlotte, NC who predeceased her.
Survivors are sons, William E. Hawkins of Cofax, NC and Thomas W. Hawkins III of Shelby; daughter, Martha Hawkins Curran of Charlotte; and sister, Adeline Lineberger Lutz of Spartanburg, SC. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Laurie Hawkins Gilliam, William Edward Hawkins Jr., Albert Thomas Hawkins, Benjamin Hawkins Curran, John Brody Curran and Thomas W. Hawkins IV; four great grandchildren, Guinevere Millisor Atkins, Natalie Michelle Hawkins, Wilson Lee Hawkins and Brian Paul Millisor; and one great great-grandchild, Micah James Atkins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church of Shelby, 200 E. Marion Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
