RIPLEY - Bert Thompson, 84, of Route 3, Sandyville, died Friday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

Thompson was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Linsey and Cemilda Sill Thompson. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Thompson; two sons, Carl Ray Thompson of Sandyville and Clair Thompson of Ravenswood; six daughters, Mrs. Oma Roberts of Belle, W. Va., Mrs. Lois Hill of Leroy, W. Va., Mrs. Doris McCormick of Fairfield, Ohio, Mrs. Jean Parrish of Sandyville, W. Va., Mrs. Joan Gentry of Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Helen Emerick of Mineral Wells; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Otis.

Services will be Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Vail Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.

Friends may call at the funeral home today after 2 p.m.
