WELLER, Russell A. - Age 89, of Durand, Michigan, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Durand, Saturday, May 26, 2001 at 2 PM. Rev. William McBride officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon.
Family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday at the funeral home.
Russell was born August 8, 1911 in Venice Township, the son of Albert and Mable (Smedley) Weller. He attended Vernon Schools. He married Helen Margaret Frederick in Milford, Michigan on June 1, 1934. He was a member of Durand First United Methodist Church and member of the UAW Local 659. He worked at General Motors, Chevy Manufacturing in Flint for 39 years, retiring in 1972. Surviving are wife, Helen; 2 sons, Russell F. (Rose) Weller of Lennon, and Rev. John A. Weller of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Judith Chapman of Flint, MI; 5 grandchildren, Daphne and Dennis Gingiloski, Deidre Weller, Dianna Weller, Brent and Bryan Chapman; 2 great-grandsons, Alex and Andrew Chapman; 2 brothers, Charles (Mary) Weller of Lennon and George (Karen) Weller of Birch Run; sister, Ruth Tolson of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Durand First United Methodist Church.
