LIBERTY, SC - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dobson will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Abbott Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the mortuary.
Elizabeth "Lib" Cassell Dobson, 81, of 410 Cassell Road, died peacefully, Thursday, October 22, 2009, at her home. Born in Liberty, she was the widow of James Arthur Dobson, Sr. and a daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Mylinda Powell Dobson.
She retired from the School District of Pickens County, where she was the Supervising Dietician at Liberty High School for many years.
Lib loved to cook, cater, entertain, and throughout the years loved to have friends and family at her home for cookouts, and gatherings. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Liberty Chapter #80, where she was past worthy matron, member of School Food Service Association, and was also a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Stratton and her husband, Rand, of Gaffney; a son, David Dobson of the home and his fiancee Pam; grandchildren, Greg Dobson and his wife, Jennifer, of Arden, N.C., and Jennifer Dobson of Powdersville, Cassell Dolly of Charleston, and Kelly Pritchard of Greenville; a great-grandson, James Grady Dobson; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Shirley and her husband, Bob, of Clemson; special nieces, Linda Robinson and her husband, Lewis, of Harrison, Tenn., and Foy Cassell Pritchard and her husband, Joel, of Moore; a special friend, Don Floyd of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lieutenant James R. Dobson, USN.
The family will be at the home.
