Mrs. Emma McKay, 63, of Vancouver, Washington, died Monday evening at the Douglas County Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born May 21, 1896, at Withrow, Washington and was a former Withrow and Waterville resident. For the past 25 years she has made her home in the Portland and Vancouver areas.
Mrs. McKay was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Surviving are 3 sons, Neil L. and Ward L. Nelson of Waterville and Owen L. Nelson of Jacksonville, Florida; 1 daughter, Mrs. Audrey Swanson of Vancouver, Washington; 3 brothers, Charles and Hans Schmidt of Twisp, Washington, and Bus Schmidt of Orondo; 2 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder of Waterville and Mrs. Rosie Estill of Calgary, Alberta and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today at 2 pm from the Federated Church in Waterville with Rev. Wm. J. Brooks officiating. Mrs. Cleo Hall was soloist with Mrs. Robert Gollehon, organist. Casket bearers were Ben Nelson, Oliver Nelson, Johnnie Schmidt, Warren Schmidt, Elmer Gray and Tim Anderson. Interment was in the Waterville Mausoleum with Thomas Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
