SELMA - J. McKim, 81, of rural Salem, died at 2 a.m. Oct. 26, 1996, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born July 19, 1915, in Given to Albert and Lillian Kennedy McKim.
He lived in Mahaska, Bloomfield and rural Davis counties and was a dragline operator and farmer. He owned and operated Mac's Campers in Bloomfield and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
He was a member of Eldon Congregational Church where he was in the choir and provided musical entertainment with his guitar.
He is survived by a son, James Jr. of Douds; two grandchildren; a great-grandson and three brothers, Lawrence of Indianola, Edwin of New Sharon and Robert of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Dean and two sisters, Velma Hainline and Hazel DeGeest.
The service will be 1 P.m. Tuesday at the Eldon Congregational Church, the Rev. Vern Elder and David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Doud with family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to his church and left at the funeral home.
