Ensign J. H. Stevens, USNRF, was designated Naval Aviator #1977 (lighter-than-air) in 1918. Transfered to the regular navy in 1922 and designated NA #3008 (heavier-than-air). In 1928 LT Stevens, USN, was given his third designation #3412 (LTA).

Died due to a coronary thrombosis at the U.S. Naval Hospital, located on League Island, Penn. Left a widow, the former Miss Marian Robertson and three daughters, Celia, Helen and Robertson.
