John Wesley 'J.W.' Owen was the son of Mark Anthony Owen and Viola Wright Owen of Christian County, Kentucky. He was the husband of Emma Stites Owen and the father of Elizabeth Stites Owen. J.W. Owen was an old railroad man. In 1910, he moved to Bonham, Texas and worked for the Texas & Pacific Railroad until his retirement.
