"Deansboro, Jan. 29. --- Adam Ruth, aged 80 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Wimple of Vernon Center, on Saturday. For over four years Mr. Ruth had been in failing health, being afflicted with asthma. He was born in Germany, coming to this country in 1853 and locating in Ava. He as a shoemaker by trade and a staunch Democrat. He was postmaster under Grover Cleveland's administration and town clerk and justice of the peace for several years. Mr. Ruth was a member of the Methodist Church and was respected by all who knew him. He is survived by five sons, Henry and Clinton, Mark of Deansboro, Seymour of Ava, Adam of Lowville and Frank of Utica, and four daughters, Mrs. George Wimple of Vernon Center, Mrs. Charles Clark of Trenton, Mrs. Henry Roser of Herkimer and Mrs. Oscar Burke of Nebraska."
