LEOMINSTER - George E. Baldwin, 80, of 100 Main St., formerly of Elm St., died Sunday in Highlands Care Center, Fitchburg, after an illness.
His wife, Mary R. (Bedard) Baldwin, died in 1989. He leaves a son, Kenneth M. Baldwin of Irvine, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara A. Bridges of Centerville, Va.; a brother, Herbert Baldwin of Florida; three sisters, Ruth Beaudoin, Mary Letarte, and Alice Brown, all of Leominster; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. He was born in Holden, son of Ernest and Maude (Mitchell) Baldwin, and lived in Leominster for many years. He graduated from Leominster High School.
Mr. Baldwin was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Asia and the Pacific as a signalman. He worked in the chemical department at the former Foster Grant Co. for more than 25 years.
He was a member of Amvets, the Leominster Sportsmen's Club, the Senior Citizens Center and the 25-year Foster Grant Club.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A calling hour will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 35 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609-2873.
