German World War II Fighter Ace. As a lieutenant in the Luftwaffe, he served in Fighter Squadron 3 and was credited with 71 victories in 300 missions. All of his victories were recorded over the Eastern Front. He was awarded the Knight's Cross in August 1942. On his final mission Fuss shot down a Russian fighter, but the fuel tank of his plane was hit and he crashed during an attempted landing. He died in a Berlin hospital from complications of his injuries.
