Uncle Forrie was born and raised in Detroit and lived there all his life. He decided not to follow his father and two older brothers into the housemoving business. Instead, he was engaged in the food supply business, first as a butter and eggs supplier. Later he branched out into produce. By 1930 he was a proprietor of a grocery store.
On Oct. 25 1893 her married Matilda K. Gruindman,of Ash Twp, Monroe Co., MI. They had two children, a daughter who died as an infant in 1895, and a son, Charles Otto, who died in France during WWI. Both of these children are buried at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit in the Apger Family Plot.
Forrest died in an convalescent home in Detroit on Apr 26, 1957 at 86 years old. He was the last of his generation of siblings. His youngest sister Daisy Apger Russell died suddenly the year before at 83 years old.
He left behind many nieces and nephews. One niece was Mrs. Emm Siegert (?), living at 1127 Livernois Ave., Detroit, MI, in Aug. of 1937. At this time the deed to the Woodmere Cemetery lots was transferred to her from Uncle Forrie. Who is Emm? Is she a daughter of Wm. I. Apger, older brother of Forrest?
