Mary Helen (Cornelious) Britton was born January 3, 1932 in Horton, KS to Lewis A. and Mabel (Kelly) Cornelious.

She passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK at the age of 88.

Helen had to drop out of school to help work in the fields. She worked as a waitress, worked in a belt factory in Oklahoma City, and worked in the laundry room at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX.

She moved to Binger and owned and operated a furniture store and café. She lived Oklahoma City for a short while and worked in Dillard’s selling China Dishes.

She moved back to Binger and worked at the T-N-C Store and worked as a custodian for the post office.

She was united in marriage to Oren Franklin “Barney” Britton. They owned and operated Barney’s Shoe Shop together and worked as a seamstress and took in ironing. During this time Helen received her G.E.D. and was immensely proud of this accomplishment. Helen later worked as a custodian for the Binger Schools and worked at the cafeteria later becoming the head cook.

She is survived by her two children, Terry James Jurey and his wife Peggy of Skiatook, and LaFonda Jean Flores and her husband Charles of Coweta;

Grandchildren, Melisa Riggs, Leona McGee and her husband Greg, Steven Jurey, Scott Leard and his wife Jennifer, and Kelly McKenzie and his wife Carole;

Great grandchildren, Jaquita, Kalynn, Logan, Juliana, Krista, Colt, Lily, Emma, Skyler, Tyler, Dylon, Triston, Ryan, Dalton, Chasnadie, and a host of great grandchildren;

Two sisters, Lydia Bybyy and Cassie Fisher; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mabel Cornelious, husband Barney Britton, infant daughter, Anita Sharon Walker, and siblings, Lillian Baker, Ila Lowrey, Aleen Green, Lidia Cornelious, Hazel Metcalf, Lillian Baker, and Franklin, Elmer and Ralph Cornelious.

Graveside Services: Murray Cemetery, Thursday, 3:00 pm, June 4, 2020, Binger, OK with Rev. Gary Green Officiating services entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Binger, Oklahoma.
