"Harold (Chaim) has the most difficult story. He and his wife and children were on a train headed for one of the Nazi death camps. Somehow he found a way to a small opening in the top of the side of the railroad car, and jumped out. He then lived in the forest for a couple of years, until the war was over. Having lost his wife and children. In the 1950s he moved to the Unites States and wound up in Olivette, Missouri. He remarried and adopted a girl. He never talked about what happened to him in Europe. He was one of those kind of people who couldn't talk about it. Today they would call it PTSD. But he was a very kind man." Nephew Yosef Kaner
