Birth: on La Grange plantation (some of its land remaining in Boggess blood line till 1974), in newly created Fairfax, formerly Prince Williams county, Virginia.
After being raised in the Pohick church area of Truro Parish, where his father, along with Daniel McCarty, George Mason & George Washinton were the four longest serving vestrymen of eighty-one who served. He migrated to Maryland where he married and as an officer served during the Revolutionary War. Near end of eighteenth century, sold his farms and moved to the northwest territory, formerly District of West Augusta Virginia with wife, children and slaves to newly created Harrison from Monongolia county, Virginia area (since 20 April 1863, West Virginia).
He, the namesake to my g,grandfather, my grandfather & to me, who on 25 May 2010, became 2nd oldest to me, of ten known generations, dating into the 1500s.
During The Boggess Family Association's 1997 tenth annual national reunion held at Bridgeport, Harrison county, West Virginia:
"A dedication ceremony for the Daughters of the American Revolution revoluntionary grave marker of Samuel Boggess was held May 3, 1997 at Boggess cemetery, Lumberport, located on Jones Run on part of the family farm, later sold to a church [now known as Jones Run Church, if you continue on up Jones Run road about 1/10 of a mile, turn left down over bank onto what is known as Sawmill road, go maybe 100 ft, you could open the gate at your left and drive to top of hill. This being another and the larger Boggess cemetery].
"A first lieutenant in the Militia, Frederick County, MD, during the Revolutionary War, he and family migrated west.
"The first known Boggess to settle in the Jones Run vicinity in Harrison County was Samuel Boggess and he purchased a total of 583 acres. He built a grist mill on Tenmile Creek and later deeded it to a son. He lived the remainder of his life in this location and is buried at the Boggess cemetery by side of Jones Run Road."
He was well aquainted with Maj Benjamin Robinson each with six children intermarried.
One of his grandsons, Samuel Boggess, married 2nd wife, Sarah Elizabeth Wood, both buried in restored Point Pleasant cemetery ten miles up Tenmile creek from his burial site in the smaller Boggess cemetery near the church.
Death: in Lumberport, Harrison county, Virginia (now West Virginia), reportedly with sixty-five living Boggess descendants.

08/21/2011, Julie Glasscock Rogers: "Cemetery is located on the smaller of the 2 of [Boggess] cemeteries. If you were visit it, you would turn at Lumberport onto Jones Run Rd. Go just over 3 miles, on your left you will see the Jones Run Church that sits just off the road. As soon as you pass the church, maybe 100 ft. you would see this cem. It is only about 10 ft. off road and other than the graves that I mentioned, the only other ones you would see are just old flat rocks kinda hidden in the grass throughout. If you continue on up the rd. about 1/10 of a mile, turn left down over bank onto what is known Sawmill Rd, go maybe 100 ft. You would open the gate at your left and drive to top of hill. This is the larger cem. I have not found a Caleb in either one, but this still could be possible. There are so many graves that are either not marked or you just cant make out names."
