Mr. Wise was 57 years of age and was born in East Waynesburg, at that time called Hookstown, being the eldest son of Hon. Morgan H. Wise and Catherine Hook Wise. He father had been elected State Representative from Greene county, and also represented this district in Congress.
Jesse H. Wise was educated in Waynesburg college and taught several terms of school. He studied law and was admitted to the Greene county bar. He became associated with W. E. Minor, Esq., in the practice of law, here. Twenty-six years ago the firm removed to Pittsburgh and opened an office in the Berger building, where they have since been located.
Mr. Wise was known for his cordial manner and good-heartedness. He was nominated by the Democratic party for Congress in this district in 1910 and was a candidate for Judge in Greene county in 1916.
He was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Wisecarver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Wisecarver, deceased, of Waynesburg, whose death occurred a year ago. He is survived by his mother, two sons, George W. Wise, of Nogales, Arizona, and Robert H. Wise, of Pittsburgh, now a student in W & J college; and a brother, Joseph Wise of Tucson, Arizona, and sister, Mrs. Ruby Mansfield, of Pittsburgh.
