Wife of Caleb Austin Barnes. Daughter of Parthenia Gilliland Benton and James Harrison Benton, my paternal grandparents.

Aunt Ida was a precious person who gave me lots of loving childhood memories.
Aunt Ida became a young widow in 1926 and was left to raise seven children, one of them a newborn, Elsie - alone when her beloved husband died as the result of a coal mining accident - all too common then.
Just prior to the 1930 census, attached here, her only son and firstborn child, James Lewis, died in 1929. A really tough time, but she raised her six daughters. Love you, Aunt Ida..

Deceased daughters not listed due to lack of burial information are Maudie Alma Barnes Kelley 1919-1985; Rosie Lee Barnes (Jones?) 1923-1983; and Annie Louise Barnes Suddeth 1924-2006.
