IN MEMORY OF MRS. CARRIE STAFFORD
Mrs. Carrie Imogene Stafford, daughter of Calvin and Kate Vest, was born at White Gate, November 18, 1879 and departed this life June 18, 1948. She professed faith at the age of 12 years, joined the Methodist Church and lived a consistent member until death. She was married to J. B. Stafford, February 8, 1905. To this union was born seven sons of whom six survive: Robert preceded her in death sixteen years. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Dan of Rock Hill, SC; Homer, Kansas City, Mo.; John, Pearisburg; Floyd, Haynes, and Joseph of Staffordsville. Also sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. As a boy when I was in the home of Miss Carrie, as we all so fondly called her, she always wore a pleasant smile and was always doing good for the neighborhood children as well as for her own. I can truthfully say that Miss Carrie was one of the best Christian women I have ever known. Funeral service were conducted in Wesley's Chapel Church on June 19 by Rev. Stanley Ross and burial was in the church cemetery. A large concourse of people attended the services thus showing their love and esteem and paying their last tribute to a very good woman.
