Mrs. George A. McWilliams (Cora Frances Cowgill McWilliams) served as the President of the Missouri Baptist Women's Missionary Union during 1935-1941. In 1938 when Women's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention celebrated the Golden Jubilee, she was elected not only to serve as the State of Missouri Chairman but as Southwide District Chairman, as well. She had a particular interest in visiting the mission fields and observing the work being carried on by Southern Baptist missionaries. She wrote many interest articles about missionary activities over the years. In 1951 she authored a book entitled "Women and Missions in Missouri".
