My information is that Cordes died end of Dec. (31st) and was buried on Jan. 2nd. I think this came from Speicher's "Sumter Flying Artillery" bk p278 & 280, 342, notes p480 #18, 26, 53-57 (also p65, 286, 291. 293-95, 300). Cordes fought at Gettysburg and was very active in the veterans' association.
