DEATH OF CHARLES CLARK - Mr. Charles Clark, a pioneer resident of the county, breathed his last at the home of his son, Wm Clark, near Petrol, at 1 o'clock Sunday morning, June 28th. For two years past the old gentleman has been in poor health, and a few weeks ago was compelled to take to his bed, from which he never arose. The cause of his death was cancer of the stomach, and his last days on earth were marked with intense suffering. He will be buried at Petrol to-day, and rev R. Rodda, an old friend of the deceased, will officiate. Charles Clark was a native of England, and at the time of his death was 77 years of age. He came to the Mattole section in early days, and has resided in that portion of the county the greater part of the time since. He leaves besides many other relatives a brother, This Clark, now a resident of Ventura, and two children, Wm Clark of Petrolia and Mrs. C. F. Rackliffe of Ferndale, to whom the ENTERPRISE extends its fullest measure of sympathy.
