Lucille James Byrom, 93, entered into rest on Sunday, August 23, 2009. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2009, at Little Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Dooly County, Reverends M. Willis and Oscar Ross, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Little Poplar Springs Church Cemetery in Byromville, Dooly County. Mrs. Byrom was born on March 21, 1916, in Dooly County, where she attended public school. She was employed as a teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church for thirty-one years, from 1960 to 1992, where she received several plaques and The Appreciation Day Honor Award. She was also a dedicated member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Lucille was one of sixteen children from the marriage of Willie and Cheffie Pittman James, Sr. In 1941, she was united in Holy Matrimony to John Henry Byrom, Sr. In their union they had eleven children, Curley Byrom, Betty Wilkins, John (Louise) Byrom, Vivian Jenkins, Retha (Clinton) Green, Otis (Myong) Byrom, Paul B. (Michelle) Byrom, Gail Byrom, Linda (Mark) Ford, Michael (Akemi) Byrom, and Melba Holman. Her memory will forever be treasured by her sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoy James, Lynmore James, Tehart James, Roosevelt James and Elmore James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
