Hendersonville - Nelle M. Dotson 98, formerly of Morris Lane, Hendersonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at the home of a daughter, Marion Hardee, in Pisgah Forest.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late A.C. Morris and Charmian Harris Keeter. A son, Charles Sonny Dotson, three brothers, Carll, James and Richard Morris and a sister, Marion Morris Porter, preceded her in death.

She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She taught home economics at the old Etowah School from 1951 to 1960 and then moved to West Henderson High School, where she continued teaching home economics until her retirement in 1972. She also assisted in the operation of the family business, The Home Food Shop, until it was sold in 1977. She was a member Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Henderson County and N.C. Retired School Personnel and was an inductee of the Second Wind Hall of Fame.

She is survived by three daughters, Charmian D. McCullough of Hendersonville, Eleanor D. Carlisle of Penrose and Marion D. Hardee of Pisgah Forest, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Dr. Kyles Wallace, the Rev. Sybil Parks and Dr. Earle R. Haire will officiate. Burial will follow later in Oakdale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center and immediately following the service at the church on Sunday.
