Lemuel was a blacksmith.

He was the son of a Revolutionary War soldier, and the father of four men who served in the Union Army in the Civil War. One of them, Martin, died in the war, at Vicksburg.

Lemuel's first wife was Maria Adkins (or Atkins), 1802 - 1826
She died at Plymouth, Litchfield, CT

His second wife was Eleanor Reese, 1806 - 1859
She died at Waupun, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

David was his only child by Maria. The rest were by Eleanor.
