She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Willie Ray Goss; her parents, Sophia M. Grace Dollar and James Silas Dollar, Sr.; her two brothers, James Silas Dollar, Jr., and Joe William Dollar; in-laws, Alma Philips Goss and Parley Wesley Goss; and a brother-in-law, Lester Goss. She is survived by her son, Marcus Ray Goss and his wife Nancy Rae Powell Goss of Conyers, GA; daughters, Sophia Elaine Goss and her husband Albert B. Dawkins of Firestone, CO, and Lynn Marie Goss Lockhart and her husband Justin Noel Lockhart of Golden, CO; sisters-in-law, Katheryne Dollar of Natchitoches, LA, Ann Goss Parr of Hoschton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Geraldine Goss of Pulaski, MS; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 9 nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women (now MSUW) in 1949, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with honors; she was a lifetime member of Alpha Delta Kappa; and taught in public schools for 32 years; retiring from the Fulton County School System in 1985. She was recognized as a Star Teacher and also served as head of the science department of Headland High School for over 10 years.
