Abraham Waite was born 12 Nov 1822 at Sinking Valley, Blair Co., PA, the son of John B. Waite and Esther Wagoner. He was never married. From Vickie Waite Trostle's genealogy book on the Wacht/Wecht/Weight/Waite Family History published in 2000, page vii of the introduction on page x, "Abraham Waite, third child of John B. Waite, was for many years a prosperous farmer near Spruce Creek where he farmed until 1879. He sold his fertile and well-improved farm and moved to the village of Spruce Creek, where he resided until 1888, when he moved to Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Abraham was an old-line Whig until the dissolution of the Whig Party and the formation of the Republican Party, which he supported ever since. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and while residing at Spruce Creek was an attendant of the church and an active worker in the Sunday School. Mr. Waite was a plain, unassuming man and a useful citizen, and retired from an active business life."
