Evaline was the daughter of John Williams, Jr. and Unity Stanley. She was first married to John Taliaferro Ragland (1815 - 1844) with whom she had two sons: Francis Tandy Burris Ragland and John T. Ragland. After being widowed, Evaline married William Nesbitt Hayden with whom she had two daughters: Alberta May Hayden and Eudora Ellen Hayden.

Because Evaline's parents died when she was young, she was raised by her older brother, Albert G. Williams who lived in Monroe County, Missouri and later Platte County, Missouri.

NOTE: Her obituary says she was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky. However that fact has not been verified.
