Nov 1,1889-Oct 7,1947
Johannes Friedrich Achziger, son of Jacob Achziger and his wife Katharina, born Henkel, was born on 1 November 1889 in Kolb, Russia, baptized as a child, and later received religious instruction and confirmed. In 1906 he came to America and settled in Greeley, Colo. In 1910 he married Elisabeth Achziger. God blessed this couple with four children, of whom one daughter died before her father. In 1914 he came with his family to the area around Gering, where they lived on a farm, until his parents moved into the city of Gering, where the deceased lived until his death. The deceased was sick for a long time. He had an operation about 10 months before to cure his illness, but it did not keep him from dying. The deceased was a member of the Friedens [Peace] congregation, and an ever-faithful member unto his death. On Tuesday morning, 7 October, God released him from his heavy burden, and in his death, took him to Himself. He died at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 6 days, and leaves behind his wife, one son Daniel in Scottsbluff, Nebr., two daughters, Mrs. Jake Grosskopf in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Henry Roth in Gering, Nebr., seven grandchildren, five brothers, John, Friedrich, Adam, and Peter, one sister, Mrs. Mollie Ruth, and also many friends and relatives. The funeral was 10 October in the Friedens [Peace] Church at Gering. May God richly send his heavenly comfort to the bereaved. Scottsbluff, Nebr., Carl L. Green, Pastor.
