ELDRED R. BARNES

Eldred R. Barnes, 93, of Sulphur was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Rosedale to Jack and Della (Kirkland) Barnes and died Jan. 8, 2008. Funeral services were Jan. 11 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.

He taught school and was in administration at several schools. He married Lavelle Henley on May 20, 1938, in Purcell, and she preceded him in death April 21, 1992. He married Pamelia Benn Moore on March 4, 1993, in Sulphur.

He is survived by: his wife; two stepdaughters, Denise Duck and LeeAnn Norton, both of Sulphur; a brother; five step-grandchildren, and four step-greatgrandchildren.

Services were under the direction of DeArman's Clagg Funeral Home.

Eldred was born in Rosedale to Delia & Jack Barnes. He grew up in the Rosedale area, graduating from Rosedale High School. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M with a masters in education. He also attended the University of Colorado. He was a teacher and administrator in several school.

He and Lavelle Henley was married on May 20, 1938 in Purcell. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1992.

He later married Pamelia Benn Moore on March 4, 1993 in Sulphur. He had lived in Sulphur since 1976. He was a Vet of WWII served in the Navy. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Marvin & Orel Barnes, & 3 sisters: Hester Arnold, Clovis Hughes, & Blanche Wallace.

Survivors: Wife Pamelia of the home. Step-daughters & spouses: Denise & Tony Duck and LeeAnn and Clint Norton all of Sulphur. Brother & sister-in-law: Leo & Mary Lou Barnes. 5 step Grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

Services: Friday January 11 at 2:00PM at Calvary Baptist Church with interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
