Funeral Wednesday for Mayme Wagner
Mrs. Leo (Mayme) Wagner, 81, of Remsen died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1982 at Happy Siesta nursing home here after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church here. Rev. Robert McClintock officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home. Mrs. Wagner, the former Mayme Offerman, was born July 10, 1901 at Dyersville, IA, to Henry and Elizabeth (Hess) Offerman. She came to the Remsen area with her parents as a child and attended school here. She was employed at Beck's general store. And later Frank's general store, both in Remsen. Her marriage to Leo Wagner took place Aug 26, 1940 at Remsen. After their marriage the couple lived at Marcus where they operated the Wagner general store until their retirement in 1954, at which time they moved back to Remsen. She had lived here since. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters and the V.F.W. Auxiliary all of Remsen. Surviving are four brothers, Clarence of Syracuse, N.Y., Roman of Remsen, Elmer of Sioux City and Frank of Williford, Ark., one sister Mrs. Harry (Hildegard) Austin of Chicago, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo on Apr. 21, 1961 and two brothers, Charles and Donald.
