Rena, the 11-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Fulfer – died very suddenly Thursday morning. She was attending school at Sardis and was taken sick in the school room Wednesday. She was assisted home by schoolmates and friends, medical assistance was summoned, but she died the next morning. She had been suffering from malaria, but otherwise was in good heath. She was buried in the family burying place at Mt. Zion Friday, Rev. Wm. Kilgore officiating.
Note 1: Rena was the granddaughter of Fannie Fulfer, the step-granddaughter of Nick Fulfur. Rena's parents were Hugh and Mary Elizabeth Vaughn Fulfer. Hugh was Nick's brother, and Mary Elizabeth was Fannie's daughter by a previous husband.
Note 2: The Thursday Rena died would have been 1 Nov. 1900, one week before the publication date. The Sequachee Valley News was always published on Thursday.
