The body of Lonzo Wells, former Richland and Parsons star athelete who died in Fort Riley Kansas, Monday will be taken to Sioux Falls, S Dak for burial, Mrs Adda Robinson of Richland said today.
Wells, who was 21 years old, had made his home for the past few years with Mrs. Robinson. She talked with Charlie Wells, (Memorial 46220371) the youth's grandfather, who was at Fort Riley. It was the grandfather who requested the burial at Sioux Falls.
Wells died of injuries he suffered when a hand grenade exploded in his right hand during training at Fort Riley. He entered military service on July 24 and was undergoing basic training when the accident occured.
