Dorothy Garner Shupe Felt
Died December 31, 2009 in her home of natural causes.
She was born July 1, 1922 in Perry, Utah, daughter of William Henry and Mary Emma Tolman Garner. She was the youngest of eleven children.
On April 17, 1942, she was married to Ross A. Shupe in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in March of 1976. She met later and married Leland R. Felt in January of 1979. He died in December of 2004.
Dorothy was reared and educated in North Ogden, graduating from Weber High and attending some classes at Weber College. Dorothy lived most of her younger life in North Ogden, moving to Huntsville in 1959.
Retiring after 27 years of service as a statistical assistant at the U.S. Forest Service's Intermountain Forest Range Experiment Station, she was the author of numerous publications. She performed critical quality control checks for forest resource inventories in Utah, New Mexico, Montana, South Dakota, and Idaho.
Dorothy was a member of the Huntsville Second Ward and held many positions in the LDS church on a ward and stake level both in North Ogden and Huntsville. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp Olive.
Flowers were her love, and she could be found from early spring until snowfall in her gardens. Her off-flower season hobby was crocheting.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Ross A. Shupe and Leland R. Felt, her son, Curtis B. Shupe, her daughter, Dara Garner Shupe Lucas, and six brothers and four sisters.
Surviving Dorothy were her daughter Pamela (Bob) Hauck, seven special grandchildren, eighteen extra special great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan 5th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntsville 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. on Monday, Jan. 4th 2010 from 6-8 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 – 10:45 am before the family prayer.
We would like to thank all those who sat by Dorothy during her health crisis last winter, and also her niece, Diana Dyrr, for all of the service she has rendered over the last several years.
