Services for Floyd W.Amburgey,77,of 1403 East 17th are to be at 2pm Saturday at Cresant Park Baptist Church,with burial in Odessa Cemetery under direction of Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.He died Thursday at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Dec,8,1902 in Odessa.He was the retired owner of Jordan Radiator Services.He married Smithie Joy Townsend Dec.16,1949 in the First Methodist Church in Odessa.He was a Baptist.At the time of his death,he was believed by relatives to have been the oldest native Odessan.He had the first cleaning shop in Odessa.In 1919,he played on the first Odessa football team for Odessa High School.He was a charter member of the Lions Club,the Chuck Wagon Gang,and the Fire Dept.He was a member of the Sherrif's Posse and had been a County Commsioner.He is survived by his wife;one daughter,Betty McAlpine of Albuquerque,N.M;three sons,Floyd D.Amburgey of Cloudcroft,N.M.,Jeff O.Amburgey of Wichita, Kansas,Gary B.Amburgey of Odessa;three sisters,Annie Maye Boulware of Miles City,Montana,Mary Alta Wineburg of Gilmer,Elizabeth Davis of Ruidodo,N.M.,five grandchildren,and a great grandchild.
