Mrs. Cora Coy Wellden, 49, died at the Athens-Limestone Hospital last Friday night after battling cancer for some time.
Mrs. Wellden, wife of real estate agent Clyde Wellden, was taken to the hospital early Friday night. Death came at 11:55 p.m.
Funeral services were held at McConnell Funeral Home Sunday with A. J. Rollings, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Wellden operated a grocery on U.S. Highway 31 North for a number of years. She was a native of Giles County, Tenn.
In addition to her husband, Mr. Clyde Wellden, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Burgreen, Athens; two sons, Johnny and Forrest Wellden, both of Athens; her father, Walter W. Dawes, Athens; brother, Wilburn Dawes; five sisters, Mrs. Herman Tarpley, Lynnville, Tenn., Mrs. W.C. Thompson, Mrs. Clarine Black, Mrs. Marguerite Hughes and Mrs. Gladys Kilpatrick, all of Athens.
