Heart Attack Is Fatal for Tom Rutledge
Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 25, for Tom Rutledge, 64, of the Oak Grove community, who died of a heart attack at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

With his brother Walter and another man he was repairing fences about four miles from Schulenburg early Monday afternoon when he became ill. Within a few minutes he fell unconscious, and he died as they were driving him to a doctor's office at Schulenburg.

Born March 13, 1904, near Rock Island, he had lived in this county his entire life, mostly in the Oak Grove area. He was a son of Charles and Sophie Berthold Rutledge. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He and his brother Walter, neither of whom had married, made their home together.

Surviving him are four brothers, Walter and Delno of Weimar, Alton of Schulenburg and Henry of Eagle Lake. [Interment was in Miller Creek Cemetery]
