Funeral services for James Earl Behling, 81, of Bamberg County Nursing Center, Bamberg, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, Smoaks. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Behling died Sunday, July 3, in the nursing center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1924, to the late Monnie and Rebecca Bryant Behling. At an early age he joined The Prospect United Methodist Church and later became a member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church. He remained a faithful member there until his health declined. He was employed with the former J.F. Cleckley Construction Co. until he retired.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Behling of the home; three daughters, Ruth Lawson of Jamaica, N.Y., Blanch Ayers of Bamberg and Ann Harrison McMillian of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, James K. Behling of Charlotte, N.C., and Larry Behling of Bamberg; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jettie Loadholt of Bamberg.

Friends may call at the home of his wife, Henrietta Behling, 192 Bible Way Road, Bamberg, and at the fellowship hall of the church after the burial.
