Gladys G. Garlick Allison, 95, of Caldwell, died Thursday October 30, 1997 at a Caldwell nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday November 4, 1997 at the Wilder United Methodist Church. Interment will follow under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Allison was born July 23, 1902, in a covered wagon at Blackfoot, as her parents, Bert E. and Katie May Kirnan Garlick were traveling west from Rapid City, S. Dakota. The family first settled in Parma and later moved to Wilder where they had filed on a homestead in 1905. She attended school and grew up in Wilder. Mrs. Allison was a life long member of the Wilder United Methodist Church. She had served on the church visitation committee and also had been active in committee work, soliciting funds for refurbishing the church and paying off the mortgage and both projects were accomplished.
She married Walter Norman August 13, 1921 in Caldwell and they were later divorced in 1925. She later married G. F. Allison and they farmed in the Wilder area until their retirement. She had also been employed by Egg Producers and King Brown Gardens in Caldwell. Mrs. Allison was a long time member of the Rebekahs and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, G. F. Allison and her only daughter, Marjorie Maxwell and her parents, B. E. and Katie Garlick and two brothers and seven sisters. She is survived by her son, a son-in law, a sister, Wilma Benham of Caldwell, two sisters-in-law, Lora Webb of Eugene, Oregon and Irma Sinclair of San Jose, California; 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
