CHARLIE CHILDERS OWENS, 99, of Huntington, widow of the late Willard W. Owens, passed away Saturday, December 27, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31, at 1:30 p.m., at Beard Mortuary, with the Rev. John Campbell officiating. Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. Mrs. Owens was born June 19, 1904, in Wayne, West Virginia, the daughter of the late R.H. Childers and Nevada Booten Childers. Also preceding her in death was a son, Tom W. Owens; and three brothers, John Paul Childers, Verlin "Monk" Elwood Childers, and Vasco Deral Childers. She was educated in Cabell County Schools and Marshall University. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Cabell County, taught for more than 40 years in Cabell School System, member of Chapter #8 Order of Eastern Star, member of United Methodist Women for more than 60 years, taught Sunday School Friendship Class, and a member of Huntington Women's Club. She is survived by two granddaughters, Christy Spurlock and husband Sam Spurlock of Huntington and Kathy Peeler and husband David Peeler of Charlottesville, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Brad and Marc Maynard, Samantha Spurlock, Owen Spurlock and Drew Peeler; a special extended family member, Vickie Roach of Proctorville, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Donald Owens of Fairborne, Ohio; a niece, Carolyn and husband Gordon Emerson; and nephews, J.P. Childers and Robert Childers
