PFC Blevins was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was taken a prisoner of war while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 2, 1950 and was declared dead on January 31, 1951. His remains were not recovered for 62 years. PFC Blevins was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Update: July 16, 2013. PFC Blevins remains have been located, returned to the US from the area of the Death Valley POW camp, and identified through laboratory analysis, dental records and DNA testing. Plans are being made to bury him, with military honors, at Rest Haven Cemetery with his brother and parents.
