La PORTE - Dean L. Burger, 63, La Porte, died at 10:53 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 9, 2010) at La Porte Hospital.
Mr. Burger was born Sept. 29, 1946, in South Bend to Delbert and Doris (Richards) Burger. On Nov. 16, 1968, in La Porte, he married Connie Mooney, who survives.
Dean retired from GTE as a repairman and was the co-owner with his wife of Dean's Telecom, La Porte. He was a member of the Army Reserve and a 1965 La Porte High School graduate, a member of Phi Delta Fraternity, La Porte Community Federal Credit Union, La Porte Moose Lodge 492 and Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening, construction and electrical wiring.
He leaves behind his wife; two daughters, Tina Burger, Orlando, Fla., and Jennifer (Tom) Salat, La Porte; one granddaughter, Rachel Gray, Orlando; parents, Delbert and Doris Burger, La Porte; two sisters, Debra Plank, La Porte, and Denise Burger, La Porte; one brother, Donald (Sherry) Burger, La Porte; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Essling Funeral Home, La Porte. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Patton Cemetery following the service.
