Plant Ellis Brown Long, 95, died January 12, 2010. Mrs. Long, formerly of Macon and Fort Valley, was a resident of Canterbury Court in Atlanta. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College, and a member of the Cathedral of St. Philip, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and formerly of the Junior League of Macon. She will always be remembered for her gracious smile and her warm Southern hospitality. Mrs. Long was predeceased by her husband, John Lawrence Brown, Jr., son, Lawrence Ellis Brown and her late husband, David D. Long, Jr. She is survived by her grand-daughter, Adrianne Brown Johnson and husband, Jay, her grandson, John Lawrence Brown III, and wife, Maria, five great grand-children, her daughter-in-law, Jerilyn Brown Emerson, and husband, John, also, a sister-in-law Mary Ellis, all from out of town. Remaining family members in Atlanta, include her step-daughter, Donna Long Frankiewicz and husband, Ron, her step-son, David D. Long, III and wife Deborah, and three step grand-children. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Helen Tolbert, Susan Sawyer, Peter, Tom and Helen Dennis, Martha Malone and Marshall Ellis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canterbury Court or The Cathedral of St. Philip. A private service will be held in the Chapel at Canterbury Court with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Macon.
