Johnston Forsythe was born in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland around 1852. He
married Jessie Bowes in Catrine Parish in 1876 and immigrated to the United
States in 1880. He was a coal miner all his life. He and Jessie had seven
children; Johnston, Thomas, Joseph, John, George Bowes, Annie, and Francis
Hodge. He died of "miner's asthma" in Sept 1899.
