ESTELLINE, Nov. 26 (Special) - A pioneer teacher, Mrs. Daisy Kennedy, 78, died Sunday in her home here. She had taught 50 years in the Texas public schools at Goodnight, Hedley, Lelia Lake and Estelline.

Mrs. Kennedy was born in Arlington. She was graduated from Alvord High School. During World War I, she served as school superintendent at Lelia Lake. She and her husband, the late J.L. Kennedy, moved to Donley County in 1912.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today from the Estelline High School auditorium. The Rev. R.L. Self of Cleveland, Tex., and the Rev. Joe A. Allison, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis, under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. E.F. Kennedy of Estelline; a son, Paul Kennedy of McLean, and three grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Daisy Kennedy Held At Estelline

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the Estelline High School auditorium for Mrs. Daisy Kennedy, 78-year-old veteran school teacher.

Rev. R.L. Self, former Baptist pastor at Estelline and Rev. Joe H. Allison, pastor, were in charge of the services.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kennedy died at her home in Estelline at 4:25 o'clock Sunday morning. She had lived there years.

She was born on March 25, 1878 in Arlington and was a graduate of Alvord High School. Mrs. Kennedy had taught in Texas public schools for 50 years.

She and her husband, the late J.L. Kennedy, moved to Donley County in 1912 and she taught for years in Hedley. Later she moved to Lelia Lake where she was school superintendent during World War I.

Following this Mrs. Kennedy moved to Memphis and managed the Kennedy Hotel for two years before moving to teaching at Goodnight, and later, Estelline.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Estelline. Her husband preceded her in death in 1948.
