Effie Deaton Chambers, age 86, of Berry, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Grant Manor Nursing Home, in Williamstown, Kentucky. Born on July 21, 1922, in Wolfe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosa Bell Deaton. She married Curtis Chambers, Sr., on September 26, 1936, and her dear husband preceded her in death on October 1, 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of God, in Lee County, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Viola, Mae and Irena; and two brothers, James and Eugene. She is survived by: her daughters, Viola Beckett and Geneva Hamilton, both of Falmouth, and Connie Deitz, Carolyn Traylor and Charolette Chambers, all of Corinth; her sons, James Chambers and Joe Chambers, both of Berry, and Curtis Chambers, Jr., of Cynthiana: 14 grandchildren, Rose Mary, Bernice, Ricky, Phyllis, James Thomas, Kim, Donna Gayle, Brian, Sammy Joe, Sandy, David Wayne, Doug, Travis and Jenny; 22 great-grandchildren, Chad, Felicia Gayle, Sam, Ashley, Justin, Brynn, Jason, William, Jeremy Todd, Cara, Isaac, Sydney, Keith, Ben, Cassandra, John Curtis, Eli, Maddie Grace, Nathan, Mercedes, Dustin and Austin; two step-great-grandchildren, Alisha and Jonathan; six great-great-grandchildren, Blake, Dylan, Noah, Katlyn, Gabriel and Desiree; two sisters, Marietta Deaton, of Lexington, and Josephine Whalley, of Robertsdale, Alabama; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, in Berry, with Bro. Benny Northcutt officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Pythian Grove Cemetery, in Berry.
